Stop re-explaining the same process

Someone on your remote team asks how to do something. You schedule a screen share. You walk them through it live. Three weeks later, someone else has the same question. UIHike breaks the cycle: record the process once, share the link. The walkthrough covers every step with a screenshot and URL so no follow-up questions are needed.

Ideal for: managers and leads of distributed teams who need to communicate processes without scheduling a call.

The bottleneck

One-on-one screen sharing doesn't scale

A synchronous walkthrough works once. The next person who needs the same process needs their own call. And the person after them. At some point, the most experienced people on your team become the bottleneck because they are the only source of documented process. The team grows; the calls do too.

Synchronous (screen share)

  • 1.Find a time that works for both time zones
  • 2.Wait for the meeting
  • 3.Walk through the process live
  • 4.The person takes notes, or does not
  • 5.They ask follow-up questions the next day
  • 6.Repeat for the next person

Async (UIHike walkthrough)

  • 1.Record the process once
  • 2.Share the link
  • 3.The person reads it when they're ready
  • 4.Every step has a screenshot and URL
  • 5.They follow it independently
  • 6.The next person uses the same link
How it works

Record once. Share with everyone.

The walkthrough exists before anyone needs it. No scheduling, no repeat explanations.

1

Open UIHike before you start the process

Create a new project and title it clearly. The title becomes the name of the shared walkthrough, so the next person can find what they need at a glance.

2

Work through the process at normal speed

UIHike captures a screenshot at every click: the page state, the URL, and the exact element you interacted with. Work normally. The recording happens in the background.

3

Add context for what screenshots can't show

After the recording, add notes to steps that need explanation: why a specific option matters, what to do when the path diverges, who to contact for access. Keep it brief: screenshots carry most of the context.

4

Share the link with the team

Publish and copy the link. Send it in Slack, email, or your team wiki. Anyone who clicks it opens the walkthrough in a browser immediately, no account or install required.

Built for async teams

What makes UIHike work for remote documentation

Async by default

Share a link and the recipient reads it when it suits them, in their timezone, at their pace. No calendar required.

Any Windows application

Capture browsers, Excel, internal desktop tools, local apps, and PDFs in one walkthrough. Not just what runs in a browser tab.

No account for readers

The person receiving the link opens it in any browser immediately. No sign-up, no app install, no IT request on their end.

Export to any format

Export to PDF, Word, or Markdown if the team stores documentation in a wiki or shared drive. The walkthrough isn't locked in UIHike.

Record your next walkthrough before the call

Download UIHike free. Record the process you were about to explain on a call and send the link instead.

Common questions

How is UIHike different from a Loom video?

A Loom video is a recording you have to watch from the beginning. You can't scan the steps, jump to step 7, or copy a URL from the footage. UIHike produces a step-by-step document: each click is its own numbered entry with a screenshot and the URL it was captured on. The reader can scan the full list, jump to any step, and follow the process at their own pace without rewinding.

Does the person receiving the link need to install anything?

No. Shared UIHike walkthroughs open in any browser. The recipient clicks the link and reads the walkthrough immediately, with no account, no app download, and no sign-up required.

Can I document processes in desktop apps like Excel or internal tools?

Yes. UIHike records any window on Windows: browsers, Excel, internal desktop applications, PDFs, and local tools. Every click in every application is captured in a single walkthrough with a screenshot and context.

How do I update a walkthrough when the process changes?

Open the project in UIHike, find the step that changed, and re-capture just that step. Replace the screenshot and update the note. The shared link reflects the change immediately. You don't re-record the entire walkthrough.

Can multiple people access the same walkthrough at the same time?

Yes. A published walkthrough link can be opened by multiple people at the same time. Each person reads it independently in their own browser with no account, app install, or sign-up required.

The next screen share you schedule could be the last one

Record the walkthrough, share the link, and let the documentation answer the question the next 10 times it comes up.
